Steve "Smokey" Keplinger, age 69, of Newark, DE passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Steve graduated class of 1965 from Franklin High School in West Virginia. He moved to Delaware to live with his Uncle Fred and Aunt Betty until his marriage. Steve worked for Chrysler for 30 years and after retirement he worked part-time at Berrodin Auto Parts for 17 years.

He volunteered at the Emmanuel Dining Room and Meals on Wheels for many years, was a member of the Wilmington Church of the Brethren in Richardson Park and a Board member of the American Spirit Federal Credit Union in Newark for 30 years.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Dora Keplinger of Smoke Hole, WV.

Steve is survived by his wife of 47 years Mary Evick Keplinger, five brothers Pete (Nellie) of Franklin, WV, Nathan and friend Dana , Nick (Kim), Dyke, and Jeremy of Upper Track, WV; two sisters Debbie King (Mike) of Palm Bay, FL and Melodie Humphreys (Bob) of Glen Allen, VA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 2 PM at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Hwy, Newark DE 19702 where friends may visit beginning at 1 PM. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 on Dickenson Mountain in Franklin, West Virginia at 11 AM followed by a luncheon.
