Love Emblem

Alfred Davis, of Bear DE, passed away at his home on March 31, 2016 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was a graduate of Wilmington High school class of 1950. In his early years he was an employee of the DuPont Company, then went on as proprietor of Tybout's Corner Gulf station before working at Formosa Plastics in Delaware city until his retirement.

He had a lifelong interest in cars. Al enjoyed teaching his son's, grandsons and friends auto repair and refinishing skills. He was a skilled mechanic and was much sought after for painting cars. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family along with selling corn and vegetables from the roadside stand at his home which gave him many pleasurable hours talking with his customers. He is known in the area for his sweet corn and tomatoes.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Janet (Harker) Davis. His children Kathleen Davis Anthony and husband Carl, Richard Davis, Linda Donovan, Bill Davis and wife Joanne, Patricia Davis Clifton and husband Carl, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great, great granddaughter, Sister Doris Komnic , Brother Walter Davis, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his Son Glenn Davis, Mother Pearl (Warren) Davis and Father Millard Davis, Brothers Edward, Robert, Donald and Harold Davis.

A service will be held on April 8, 2016 at Gracelawn Memorial Cemetery at 11:30. Family and friends may visit from 10:30 AM until 11:30 with burial immediately following the service.
