Carolyn V. Melson of Newark, Delaware went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 23, 2017.

She was born in Wilmington, Delaware in 1938 to Pearl (Baker) and Edward W. Vansant.

After graduating from Mount Pleasant High School in 1956, Carolyn worked as a secretary for several years before marrying and beginning a family. Carolyn and her husband Bill moved to Maryland with their children and she enjoyed being a homemaker and made many lifelong friends. Later she worked for American Home & Hardware. Once her children were grown, Carolyn moved back to Delaware and worked for and retired from the Superior Court in Wilmington.

Over the years, Carolyn enjoyed a wide variety of activities including sewing, crafting, gardening, golfing and yoga. The best times were the times she spent with family. She was known for having a great sense of humor. She enjoyed seeing former classmates and friends at the Bellefonte reunions.

Carolyn was a member of Cornerstone UMC and belonged to the Cornerstone Senior Center where she participated in many activities, including ceramics, Bible studies, card making and bowling while forming wonderful friendships.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Dawn Clair and her husband Kevin, her granddaughters, Anneliese and Anastasia, son Stuart, two brothers, Edward J. Vansant (Diane) and Barry W. Vansant (Donna) along with extended family members.

She is predeceased by her parents, Pearl B. and Edward W. Vansant and her son, Wm. Kevin Melson.
Friends may call at Cornerstone United Methodist Church at 10:00 am on Friday April 28, 2017 where the service will begin at 11:00. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 3135 Summit Bridge Road, Bear, DE 19701.
