Pat Keys, 87, left his earthly home surrounded by family on December 22, 2016. Pat was the youngest of 10 children born to Sallie and Roy Keys of Sugar Grove, Virginia. He said he did not have a middle name because his mother ran out by the time she had him.
He left the farm and joined the United States Air Force in 1947. He served four years overseas in Okinawa, Japan and Korea during the Korean War; honorably discharged in 1951. Upon returning home, he spent 30 years with General Motors before retiring in 1982. During his career he was a member of Local Union 435, UAW and held numerous offices before running for State Representative.
He was a proud member of Fairwinds Baptist Church, a devoted father, grandfather, and friend to anyone he met. Pat was predeceased by his bride of 50 years, Lillian and son, James. Living to cherish his memory are his daughter, Patty Blair (and husband Bruce), five grandchildren: Heather Rafail (and husband Greg), Aaron, Patrick, Shawn, and Brooke, and great grand-daughter, Savanna.
